WAIN BRAVES

Desert Scene Rock Band

THE WAIN BRAVES

After playing only Acoustic Guitar for over 5 years, I purchased my first Electric Guitar, a Fender Stratocaster. Later I bought a Fender CyberTwin amp from my friend Steve Ball of the band "Mr. Blotto."

The Moment

With a number of my friends present, as well as Melissa Cervantes, a US Airforce Veteran (an Armed Forces Radio Disc Jockey and Bad Ass Bass Guitar Player), I plugged in my Fender Stratocaster for the first time and started to play some of my Rock songs amplified on an electric guitar. This was a "Wax-on, Wax-off" moment. All of my friends asked me, "How did you know how to play electric guitar like that??!!!" It turned out that all my practice and guitar playing knowledge acquired in playing my acoustic guitar transfered over to playing on the electric. It truly was an amazing moment.

Melissa Cervantes & I formed the band, "The Wain Braves," a band name of her origin. We quickly found playing time all throughout the desert scene. We acquired a permanent drummer, Keith McConichie and started playing paid gigs. This band played from 2007-2011, with the last show being our headline performance at the "Red Barn" in Palm Desert CA.
